Annual ATU Graduate Art Show opens to the public

Art, Design and Film & Documentary students exhibit their work

An exciting exhibition of work by final year students of art, design, film & documentary programmes in Atlantic Technological University (ATU) was formally opened to the public on Saturday 25 May by the Director of the Arts Council of Ireland, Maureen Kennelly. The exhibition shown across 3 floors in the ATU School of Design & Creative Arts, Galway city (Wellpark Road) will run until 30 May. 

The annual Graduate Art Show is a popular event in Galway’s arts calendar, attracting visitors, art lovers as well as friends, families and neighbours of the students who joined them in celebrating the culmination of their four years of study.

The campus , a former Redemptorist building, showcases the work of  some 70 students in painting, print, photography, short films and documentary, games and animation, graphic design and illustrations, product design, and textile and fashion.

Celine Curtin, Head of Department of Creative Art and Media, ATU Galway city (Wellpark Road) says: “We congratulate the graduates for their exemplary work showcased in this exhibition. Their dedication and scholarly rigor have culminated in a remarkable display of creative talent and academic achievement”.

Louise Manifold, lecturer, says: “The 2024 Graduate Exhibition promises a range of surprises from the playful to the surreal. This year's graduates, who began their learning journey at the height of the pandemic, visually explore human relationships both with ourselves, our communities, and the environments we inhabit. Across the programmes of Art, Design, Film and Documentary, our graduates tell stories reflect the transformative journey from then to now.”
