Course Overview
This add-on programme has been developed in conjunction with many of Ireland’s leading retail organisations and is based on national and international best practice in retail education. A particular strength of this programme is the guest presentations by retail experts during each module. The integration of practitioner and consultant materials informs and reinforces the academic modules.

Innovation and Digital TransformationThis module will provide the learner with a solid foundation in emerging digital technologies and how to best harness their potential to improve organisational effectiveness and efficiency. The learner will be exposed to the various components of digital transformation and innovation management required to address the challenges organisations face dealing with continual digital progression. Leadership and management are key components to develop an innovative and agile culture which are needed to ensure the continued evolution of digital technology within the organisation. Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable RetailThis module will provide learners with an overview of the ethical and corporate social responsibilities of managers and retail organisations as well as sustainable business practice. Learners will consider individual and organizational business actions and decisions in the light of moral principles and values. The module will address the multi-level (individual, team, organizational level, external stakeholders) and multicultural context of ethical behaviour, corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practice. Talent Strategy ManagementThis module examines the contemporary trends and theories within talent acquisition and development management. The module will equip the learner with frameworks that effectively engage the organisation's learning and development function to ensure an effective workforce. The learner will be able to apply talent intervention strategies to support the organisation and the individual with developmental progression. Learning Outcomes 1. Examine the key elements within talent acquisition and development management and assess the impact of the employee value proposition on talent acquisition and development management. |

Strategic Retail ManagementStrategy is increasingly important for retail organisations as they determine the path to follow in an increasingly difficult and dynamic environment, both externally and internally. This module aims to provide the learners with a practical insight in terms of the how, what and why of strategy development and to provide them with the ability to understand strategy at a pragmatic level. Various concepts, theories and frameworks of strategic retail management are used to encourage the learner to think on a strategic level about how retail organisations can grow and compete. It considers how both the external and the internal environment influences strategic choice and a retail organisation's ability to achieve competitive advantage. The module integrates theory and practice acquired throughout the programme. Learning Outcomes 1. Leadership EffectivenessThis module will focus on developing leadership theoretical principals through utilising applied tools and techniques for leaders to contribute effectively to today’s changing retail environment. Learners will develop insights into their own leadership styles and fundamental leadership traits. The module will provide learners with greater understanding of their individualised leadership capabilities and develop strategies to support their leadership effectiveness. Learning Outcomes 1. Change ManagementThis module provides an examination of change management, building readiness for change and the key challenges in sustaining change. The module will evaluate change frameworks to support innovation and utilise case studies to apply appropriate change strategies. The learner will assess the importance of organisational culture and how to lead and engage individuals to effectively implement the change process, building readiness for change and sustaining change. Learning Outcomes 1. Assess the main drivers of change in the current environment and how these changes impact strategic and operational functions. |
