Customer Engagements & TouchpointsExcelling at customer experience is increasingly coming to the fore of many corporate strategies as retailers attempt to satisfy the demands of the more discerning, more informed and more demanding customers (PwC – Irish Retail & Consumer Report, 2019). All retailers should strive to go above and beyond across every channel to deliver exceptional customer experience. This module aims to equip the learner with an appreciation for the importance of ensuring positive customer engagements at various touchpoints within the retail organisation as well as identifying practices and technologies that can measure and satisfy customer expectations and experiences. Retail Security and Loss PreventionSecurity and loss prevention in retail stores have become an increasingly important issues in recent years. According to a recent Retail Ireland report on retail crime, over half of retailers have experienced increased levels of crime in the last two years, with over half a billion euros (€512 million) of retail stock stolen every year. This module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competencies to perform practical loss prevention and retail security duties and procedures, and respond to situations, in order to maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and customers. It will provide the learner with knowledge of some of the key issues involved in the efficient management of people in a retail environment. Learners will analyse human resource planning and the recruitment and selection processes in a retail organisation. They will also explore the role of performance and reward management of individuals and teams, as well as how to guide and mentor employees. The module will address the multi-level (individual, team, organizational level) and multicultural context of ethical behaviour and corporate social responsibility in the retention and motivation of employees in the organisation. Consumer Behaviour and PsychologyAn understanding of consumer behaviour and psychology is an essential prerequisite for the modern retail manager. As consumers become more demanding and sophisticated, retail managers are required to understand the key factors influencing shopping behaviour. This module aims to equip the learner with an understanding of the key theories and influences associated with consumer behaviour and psychology as well as reviewing the contemporary issues relevant to the topic. Entry Requirements
5 O6/H7 in the Leaving Certificate, to include Mathematics (F2/O6/H7) and either Irish or English (O6/H7), OR QQIFET Level 5, OR equivalent qualification. Candidates who do not meet the above entry requirements may be admitted to the programme on the grounds of mature years (0ver 23 by 1st January in the proposed year of entry), if they have attained appropriate experience, preferably in a business environment, and attainment thresholds deemed equivalent.
