Course Overview
This Bachelor of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (Level 8) is a unique add-on programme where you will study a range of mainstream and specialised fire technology subjects. The programme is designed with the needs of modern and existing buildings in mind and will focus on the application of the science and implementation of the knowledge derived from the study programme.
You will gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the complex nature of the fire growth process in the context of building compartment fires.
You’ll learn how to identify fire safety problems and concerns relevant to the construction industry, and individual building design in particular.
You’ll grasp major techniques and approaches involved in fire safety design, as well as the integration of the various technical aspects necessary to implement in building design.
You’ll also learn about the legal regulatory framework and responsibilities related to construction and fire safety issues. As well as the technical limits and complex issues posed in achieving fire safety objectives, and the importance of fire safety management issues. Graduates of the BSc Hons Fire Safety Engineering work throughout world. There is a growing need for experts with fire safety skills and an awareness of the complexities of achieving fire safety in existing and new buildings.

Entry Requirements
– Applicants must have successfully completed a Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Engineering (level 7) qualification with 180 ECTS credits and appropriate learning outcomes in a construction technology or related discipline.
– Applications are invited from graduates of a level 7 (or above) degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Architectural Technology.
-RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) both certified or experiential may be taken into account.
Professional Accreditation
The programme has been fully accredited by Engineers Ireland as meeting the educational requirement to enable graduates to apply for associate member grade and gain the title of ‘Associate Engineer’.

Graduate careers typically include roles such as Fire Safety Engineer and Fire Technologist.
The main employers are architecture firms, fire safety engineering consultancies, local authorities, and the public sector, including health and prison services.
