Course Overview
Managing and Mentoring People, is a minor award (10 credits) Level 7 aimed at existing supervisors and managers, and those considering a career in managing people.
The programme explores the key practices of mentoring and the impact trends in HRM, motivation, conflict and team management have on the role of the manager and mentor. Students will consider the dynamics of teams, learn how to motivate and empower staff and build effective workplace relationships. It will also provide learners with the specialised skills and competencies required to act as a mentor to implement a mentoring programme into a workplace. The programme will start in September and/or January each year (subject to demand).

Managing & Mentoring PeopleThis module provides students, existing managers and those considering a career in managing people with detailed knowledge of the key issues in the efficient management of people in an organisation. This module explores the key practices and principles of mentoring and the role played by recruitment, performance and reward management in the retention of employees in the organisation. The student will consider the dynamics of teams, learn how to motivate and empower staff and build effective workplace relationships. It will also provider learners with the skills and competencies required to act as a mentor. Learning Outcomes 1. Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate Minimum Five O6/H7 English or Irish O6/H7 Maths F2/O6/H7 or QQI/FET Level 5, OR equivalent qualification.
Candidates who do not meet the above entry requirements may be admitted to the programme on the grounds of mature years (0ver 23 by 1st January in the proposed year of entry), if they have attained appropriate experience, preferably in a business environment. Learners should have experience in Management, Training or Supervision
