Course Overview
With an increased emphasis on teaching computing in schools, there is increasing demand for teachers to introduce digital citizenship as part of the curriculum. This 10 credit special purpose level-8 award is designed to assist teachers in developing their knowledge of digital literacy and pertinent factors effecting online activities. Specifically the objectives of the course are to:
Equip learners with the ability to develop an understanding of relevant and pertinent laws.
To evaluate and appreciate the concepts of privacy and freedom of speech in a digital world.
To assist learners in developing critical thinking skills for cyberspace.
To assist learners independently devise strategies and lesson plans to raise awareness of digital citizenship in schools.
No prior knowledge is required. We are assuming little or no knowledge of the area.
