Course Overview
Digital technology continues to have a profound transformative impact on our experience of sport as fans, athletes, officials, members and administrators.
This course offers a deep dive into the SportsTech world with particular emphasis on digital tools for sports marketing and engagement, and the impact of emerging technologies in sporting contexts such as smart stadia, ticketing, performance measurement and participation monitoring.
Students will learn to design and implement digital and social media marketing strategies and assess the technologies which support relationship management in various sporting contexts.
The course also equips learners with the knowledge and tools to evaluate emerging technologies for sports business, participation and performance and challenges them to consider novel development opportunities in these domains.

Digital Marketing and Engagement for SportThis module will equip students with a comprehensive understanding of digital marketing technologies and their application to promote and generate revenue streams in sporting organisations. Students will learn how digital technology is driving customer engagement across numerous channels/platforms and providing excellent customer experience is a prerequisite for organisations. Emerging Technologies in SportIn this module, students will explore the impact advanced computing, networks, mobile applications, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, immersive experiences (augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)) and Web 3 are having on sports business, performance, and participation. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to critique and evaluate new technological solutions in sporting contexts such as smart stadia, ticketing, performance measurement and participation monitoring. Students will also critique and evaluate the validity and accuracy of new technologies against existing, more established methods. Learning Outcomes 1. Identify and describe recent technological advances in sport, and applications in sports business, performance and participation. |

Recommended Study Hours per week
There are up to 6 hours of live online lectures per week for 12 weeks with additional independent learning and coursework of up to 10 hours.
Examination and Assessment
This typically consists of a mix of project work and activities which build an Eportfolio for the student such as the creation of multi-media digital resources, project work in digital marketing strategy and emerging technologies for the sports sector.
