Course Overview
This Level 7 Certificate in Management and Leadership has been designed to equip participants with the core knowledge, skills and competencies to develop as a manager and leader. It aims to support those in a supervisory or management role who may be experts in their field (eg manufacturing, science, engineering, ICT etc), but have no prior exposure to management and leadership teachings.
This one-year part-time programme has been developed in collaboration with key employers both in the region and nationally. It will provide a practical learning experience to managers and those tasked with managing people. Participants will be provided with the foundation for examining and developing their own individual leadership style.

ManagementThis module will provide learners with a basic understanding of the key functions of modern managers and a basic understanding of the key skills required by modern managers. Learners will also be provided with an understanding of entrepreneurship and environmental scanning which can be applied in a management context in the changing business environment. Learners will identify and apply practical application of the efficient functions of the recruitment, selection, reward, and performance elements of people management. It also covers the key principles and challenges facing managers for future work practices. Learning Outcomes 1. Evaluate the environmental scanning techniques which will influence management decision making. |

LeadershipThe aim of this module is to develop learner's leadership skills and competencies required to be a more impactful leader in their organisation. This module will focus on individual, team, and organizational leadership and will provide learners with the foundation for examining and developing their own individual leadership style as they commit to building equitable and inclusive organisations. Applied Learning – Work Based LearningThe Work Based Learning module provides an experiential learning context which consolidates programme learning outcomes and integrates the programme modules. The focus is on the application of learning to real work issues. It is designed to provide the learner with the opportunity to complete a relevant project for an organisation (public, private or voluntary). An organisation, in consultation with the learner will identify an issue within the organisation that merits investigation and draws upon a wide range of specialised or conceptual information in order to formulate a response appropriate to that issue. Entry Requirements
5 O6/H7 in the Leaving Certificate, to include Mathematics (F2/O6/H7) and either Irish or English (O6/H7), OR QQIFET Level 5, OR equivalent qualification.
Candidates who do not meet the above entry requirements may be admitted to the programme on the grounds of mature years (over 23 by 1st January in the proposed year of entry) if they have attained appropriate experience and attainment thresholds deemed equivalent.
