Course Overview
The aim of this course is to provide learners with an understanding of the nature, concepts and skills required in the operation of a tourism enterprise and have a working knowledge of how to design, implement and apply revenue management techniques.
This course is aimed at learners looking for continuing professional development in their career and address the specialised skills shortages in revenue management and strategy implementation in rooms division, food and beverage outlets, spas, golf courses, meetings, and conference venues.

Strategic Revenue ManagementThis module will enable learners to explore the concepts and application of revenue management in tourism enterprises as a strategic tool to improve overall business performance. The module will develop the learners understanding of applying revenue management techniques in the areas of rooms division, golf courses and spas, food outlets, conference and events. Learning Outcomes 1. Evaluate strategic management techniques and its potential benefit to the hospitality industry. |

Work Based LearningThe focus of this module is on the application of learning to real work issues. Work based learning involves reflection on practice and learning from the experience. This module provides an opportunity for the learner to relate academic theory to the workplace, it introduces the learner to the concepts of learning for and from their work organisation. The learner will identify an issue within their work organisation that merits investigation and draw upon a wide range of specialised or conceptual information in order to formulate an appropriate response to that issue. This module requires the learner to complete a reflective learning portfolio using techniques and tools such as critical incidence analysis and reflective logs. Learning Outcomes 1. Work independently on an applied work-based project. |

Entry Requirements
5 O6/H7 in the Leaving Certificate, to include Mathematics (F2/06/H7) and either Irish or English (O6/H7), OR QQIFET Level 5, OR equivalent qualification. Candidates who do not meet the above entry requirements may be admitted to the programme on the grounds of mature years (over 23 by 1st January in the proposed year of entry). RPL will be considered in accordance with the Quality Assurance of ATU Donegal.
