The Janus Research Group envisions itself as a leading driver of HPC, AI, and emerging technology research, strengthening Ireland’s research capabilities and fostering deep collaboration between academia, industry, and public sector stakeholders. Our goal is to cultivate a dynamic research environment that enables transformative innovation, develops talent pipelines, and strengthens economic resilience in the region.

Strategic Partnerships in HPC & AI

Janus collaborates with INSIGHT SFI Research Centre, one of Europe’s largest AI research initiatives, to drive forward advancements in data analytics, machine learning, and AI ethics. Additionally, we partner with the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) to leverage national HPC infrastructure, enabling large-scale computational research and supporting breakthroughs in AI-driven simulations and high-performance data processing. Janus is also a key partner in the Data2Sustain European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH), through WiSAR Technology Gateway,
focusing on AI-powered sustainability solutions and digital transformation for enterprises.

Janus provides critically needed HPC services to the postgraduate research community and academics, ensuring they have access to cutting-edge
computational resources. Our research group fosters an environment where researchers can leverage HPC and AI infrastructure to push the boundaries of innovation. Janus is committed to developing Ireland’s future research leaders, providing them with the tools, expertise, and collaborative networks necessary to excel in an AI-driven digital economy. Janus also actively supports the Postgraduate Research Training Programmes (PRTPs) at ATU under the TU RISE initiative, providing computational capabilities to postgraduate researchers and academic staff. With more than 85 PhD students engaged in PRTPs, Janus ensures that those requiring HPC resources have access to the necessary infrastructure and expertise.
