The Sea Sessions Surf and Music Festival is enhancing its partnership with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) for the upcoming 2024 event. This year, the festival will feature the ATU Surf Open, held at Tullan Strand, also known as Surfers Paradise, in Bundoran, Co Donegal.

Building on the success of last year's event, the 2024 ATU Surf Open will include a new longboard event. The ATU Surf Open will be organised by Irish Surfing, the National Governing Body for surfing in Ireland, and will be part of their extended Senior Irish Tour.

Gavin McCrea of Irish Surfing expressed his excitement about the event, saying, "I am delighted to showcase the best of Irish Surfing at this year’s festival, and we hope to see some very exciting surfing from surfers of the future who will be pushing to qualify for the Olympics in the coming years. We also have the addition of the rapidly growing longboard category to this year’s event. This brings another dimension to the expanded format and will allow the rising talent from the Irish Longboarding scene to showcase their talent and the sport of surfing even further."

Festival Director Ray O’Donoghue emphasised the unique blend of world-class music and surfing at Sea Sessions, stating, "It's great to be working with Irish Surfing and ATU on our surf event and supporting the exciting local surf scene in Ireland. It proves that Sea Sessions is completely unique, not only is it just about world-class headline musical artists but world-class surfers too."

Dr. Orla Flynn of ATU added, "Sea Sessions attracts up to 10,000 young people annually and promoting culture, sport, and the arts scene in our region is important to our university. The ATU Surf Open is a chance to experience the Atlantic and all its power, naturally fitting with the vision for Atlantic TU."

Sea Sessions, now in its 15th year has hosted major international music acts such as Bastille, Dermot Kennedy, Becky Hill, Clean Bandit, and Picture This. The festival is set to offer an exciting mix of music and surfing at the picturesque Tullan Strand.
