ATU hosts the EUGREEN Staff Week welcoming partners from nine universities
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) hosted the EUGREEN Staff Week from 15 January to 18 January 2024, bringing together partners from nine universities alongside collaborators from Healthy Campus (HEA) and the National Student Engagement Programme (NStEP). With ATU Donegal as hosts for the initial two days and ATU Sligo taking over for the subsequent two, the gathering brought together staff members and students committed to sustainable and healthy campus initiatives within the alliance.
The agenda comprised a dynamic mix of presentations, workshops, and discussions, addressing both successful initiatives and challenges within sustainability and health promotion.
Prof Frances Lucy, the ATU lead for the EU GREEN University Alliance, applauded the group's dedication to building sustainable campuses.
She said: "The workshops, attended by 50 delegates from across the EU GREEN alliance, focused on the dual aspects of healthy and green campuses. ATU staff and external partners delivered insightful presentations on student health and wellbeing, complemented by a world cafe-style workshop envisioning a climate-resilient campus." Prof Lucy emphasized the group's commitment to working diligently within a tight schedule to advance their work package action plan during their Irish visit. She expressed the intention to expand EU GREEN events across all ATU campuses in the future.
The final day of the event featured parallel sessions, workshops, and action plan activities, culminating in joint presentations.
