Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English and Psychology has been accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).

This milestone marks the first accreditation of its kind for ATU, ensuring that the program meets the highest standards for undergraduate education and training in psychology.
The BA (Hons) in English and Psychology at ATU offers a unique blend of skills and insights, enabling students to think critically and gain a deep understanding of human behaviour and the human condition through the dual lenses of English and psychology.

Dr Breda McTaggart, Head of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at ATU Sligo, said: "The PSI's endorsement is a testament to the quality of our program and the outstanding learning experience we offer our students. This accreditation not only enhances our students' career profiles but also prepares them thoroughly for entering the field of psychology. This achievement reflects the commitment of our students, faculty, and the entire ATU community."

The program equips students with transferable skills highly sought after by employers and postgraduate programs, including critical and analytical thinking, enhanced communication, and empathy.

Deborah Doherty, a graduate of the programme, shared her experience: "The variety of modules covered in both disciplines complemented each other perfectly, especially in terms of critiquing and analysing literature. The joint honours structure was particularly appealing. Following my degree at ATU, I completed a Higher Diploma Psychology Conversion at the University of Galway, an MSc in Applied Developmental Psychology at Queen's University Belfast, and I am now completing a Masters by Research at ATU Sligo."

For those considering their CAO ‘Change-of-Mind’ options, the BA (Hons) in English and Psychology at ATU offers an exceptional opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of the human experience and behaviour. Explore more about the program at atu.ie/AU917.
