“The Springboard+ Certificate in Culinary Skills is a fantastic stepping stone for an exciting career as a chef. Through the course, I gained a summary of the basic practical and theoretical skills associated with both dessert and hot kitchen work. We also covered basic computer skills, writing for academic work and presentation skills. These have all helped massively as I have progressed further in my academic learning. The course is mainly practical, although the theoretical elements are greatly intertwined with the learning, ensuring that all knowledge is easily applied in the workplace. Taking a part-time course made my career transition less overwhelming and made working full-time alongside the course entirely feasible. The lecturers in Killybegs are very generous with their time and knowledge, and I will forever be grateful to them for the impact they have made on my career. After the course, I was chosen as a Taste the Atlantic Young Chef Ambassador. I spent the following year and a half working in JP McMahon’s restaurant Cava Bodega in Galway. I am currently a student of Botanical Cuisine at TUD and will graduate this year. None of this would have been possible without taking the Culinary Skills course at Killybegs. So, if you’re in any doubt, apply. You never know where a career in Culinary Arts might take you, especially when you have a solid foundation like the one you’ll get from this course.”
