Tertiary Degree Applicants

Tertiary degree programmes are co-designed and co-delivered routes from Donegal, (Donegal ETB), Mayo, Sligo, and Leitrim (MSLETB) and Galway and Roscommon (GRETB) Education and Training Boards (ETBs) to Atlantic Technological University (ATU).
Start year one of your degree close to home in a further education and training centre and then, upon successful completion, pick your specialism and progress to the ATU campus of your choice.
Tertiary Degree Pathways
All tertiary degree students undertake a common year one in their chosen subject area. During this year you will enjoy transitions days, information sessions and lectures with ATU staff on ATU campuses, giving you an idea of the specialisms available.
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sustainable Engineering Technologies
Year 1 based in the following ETB location:
- Sligo College of FE, Ballinode (MSLETB)
Years 2, 3 & 4 based in the following ATU campuses:
- ATU, Galway City Campus – BSc (Hons) Sustainable Engineering Technologies for the Manufacturing Industry
- ATU, Sligo Campus – BSc (Hons) Sustainable Engineering Technologies for the Manufacturing Industry
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in General Nursing
The tertiary route into General Nursing starts with the one-year QQI Level 5 Tertiary Access Nursing course in the ETB. Upon attainment of 5 Distinctions (in the required modules) students will progress into Year 1 of the 4-year BSc (Hons) in General Nursing at the corresponding ATU campus.
Locations for this Tertiary Access Route:
- FET Centre, Castlerea (GRETB) progressing to ATU, Mayo Campus, Castlebar
- Sligo College of FE, Ballinode (MSLETB) progressing to ATU, St Angela’s Campus
- The Hub, FET Centre, Letterkenny (DonegalETB) progressing to ATU, Letterkenny Campus
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Care Practice
Year 1 based in:
- Cavan Institute, Cathedral Road, Cavan (CMETB)
Years 2, 3 & 4 based in:
- ATU, Sligo Campus – BA (Hons) in Social Care Practice
