The aims of this module are to: Reinforce application of number skills. Students who have successfully completed, ordinary level maths or foundation GCSE Mathematics should find this familiar. To enhance learners' skills on application of number processes with ICT assistance To further learners' ability to handle all of forms of number precedence operations To promote learners' competence and confidence in mathematics

3. Use excel/spreadsheet application to enhance understanding of mathematical operations
4. Apply routine mathematical knowledge and skills to solve practical problems in number based problems

The aims of the module is to support the students in their career journey, both academic and vocational. This is facilitated digitally and in class. Students engage with an online portal and in-class practical work allowing them to find confidence in their future career choices. Students will also be equipped with knowledge of supports within the ATU to assist them in their academic career.

The aim of this module is to prepare students with a range of academic skills in preparation for entry into third level. Students will be introduced to a range of core skills needed to progress confidently in their academic career.

3. Utilise revision and exam techniques in a way that enhances their academic potential and fulfilment.

7. Effectively prepare and deliver a group presentation to their peers.

This module will provide the learner with practical knowledge of computer applications that are used today in the business environment as well as providing a basic theoretical overview of the components of PC.

1. Describe the basic components of a PC
2. Describe and use application and operating software.
3. Navigate the Virtual Learning Environment, Email and the Internet
4. Demonstrate effective use of a word processing package to create and maintain office documents.
5. Prepare and deliver professional presentations using presentation software.
6. Design and manage a spreadsheet application to carry out basic spreadsheet functionality

The aim of the module is to develop the students' understanding and awareness of the importance of academic writing skills at third level. It intends to facilitate students to become more aware of themselves as academic communicators and move towards becoming more autonomous as writers. The module's objective is also to synthesize the knowledge which students taking this module have previously learnt in the A Level English Language or English Literature subjects to the requirements. To do so the module merges one aspect of a course in the LYIT – design – with English language Studies – Graphology and Graphic Design.

1. Construct a third level structured essay
2. Evaluate essay titles and discuss critically the topic
3. Write analytically about texts as parts of discourses about language
4. Evaluate the usefulness and credibility of different sources and be able to justify their selection
5. Demonstrate an ability to reference using Harvard UL / Oscola and acknowledge different sources of information
6. Show skills in planning, drafting, editing and revising
7. Develop a strong internal standard in relation to the merits of their work
8. Understand the writing process – drafting, redrafting and proof-reading

The module will provide the learner with practical knowledge of computer applications and an understanding of the hardware component of modern computing systems.

1. Identify the internal components and external peripherals of a modern computing system
2. Describe and understand the difference between an operating system and a computer application
3. Demonstrate an ability to remove malware from a computer
4. Demonstrate the ability to download and install appropriate updates
5. Access and set up a domestic wifi network and apply appropriate encryption
