About this programme
The Certificate in Quality Assurance aims to provide provides participants with enhanced problem-solving and analytical skills as well as the soft skills required in interacting within teams and with peers and subordinates. This certificate is in great demand by companies across all sectors in either manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare or service sectors. It is suitable for all levels within the organisation. This is a one-year programme (September to May), and on successful completion offers the participant 30 credits at level 6.
EIQA Diploma Holders
This one-year programme, in addition to offering a minor award at level 6, is designed as an online qualifier to allow holders of an EIQA diploma (or already have 30 credits at level 6) with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience to progress to the level 7 B.Sc. in Quality or the level 7 B.Sc. in Manufacturing Management. On successful completion of the programme the learner will receive a minor award at level 6 and will be adequately prepared to participate in the level 7 Quality or Manufacturing Management programmes. These level 7 programmes can then be completed in a further two years online study.
Important Note
This programme is worth 30 credits at Level 6. If a student wishes to progress to a Level 7 Degree programme on completion, they will require 120 credits at Level 6. ATU Sligo may allow up to 60 credits for relevant work experience. The remaining credits must be made up from academic qualifications. There is an option to complete this programme in addition to a 30-credit work-based project (over 1 year) to gain 60 credits in one year. You may apply for the combined programme instead here. Quality and Production Techniques 1This module is intended as an introductory course in Quality and Production Management and is complementary to Quality and Production Techniques 2. The role of the Production System including the Supply Chain and purchasing are introduced. The concept of Total Quality Management, Quality tools including basic Control Charts are addressed. Introduction to Engineering Mathematics (Quality)This module is designed to prepare the student for progression onto the degree level 7 Quality and Manufacturing Management programmes. It is intended to provide a broad approach and foundation for mathematics required by Quality Students at L7 and L8.. The main topics are: Algebra Statistics Graphs Volumes and Areas Trigonometry Integration Differential Calculus This module makes use of real life situations where the techniques are used. The online students are already working in industry and can see where engineers make use of the techniques. Learning Outcomes 1. 1.Present Statistical Information and be able to undertake statistical analysis of raw data 2. 2. perform basic differentiation and integration functions 3. . Work out volumes and areas of regular and irregular shapes 7. Be able to apply Trigonometry to practical situations |

Entry Requirements
There is no prerequisite to study this programme. It is recommended that applicants have a Leaving Certificate or equivalent due to the Statistics and Mathematics covered in the course syllabus.In addition, an applicant must successfully complete an entrance exam in Mathematics.

Students usually work in Production or Quality roles in Manufacturing, Pharma, Biopharma, Med-tech, and Medical Device sectors. Applicants should have a keen interest in Quality.
