Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science
ATU Donegal
I have greatly enjoyed this experience, and I could not have got to where I am now had it not been for the Computer Science Degree I obtained from ATU.”
Why did you choose to study at ATU Donegal?
I am from Letterkenny, and it was perfect to have my college in my hometown. It made travelling for college very easy.
What were your favourite modules?
I enjoyed many of the modules we did as a part of our course, especially the AI & Machine Learning Module, and the Data Analytics module. These were exciting as many of our assignments were open ended and we got to choose our specific fields of research, meaning we could incorporate our everyday interests into our work.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoyed the collaborative aspect of the course, as I had good friends with me in the course, there was a great atmosphere of everyone helping each other and contributing together on group work.
What advice have you for anyone interested in studying this degree?
If you are interested in job opportunities in Software Engineering after completion of this degree, it is important to know that many graduate programmes operate on a calendar schedule. Applications should mostly be made around August to November time coming into your final college year, with those jobs starting in September the following year. It is important to apply early for these as after, these opportunities may close and you could have to wait another year.
What have you done since you graduated?
I graduated last year, and after graduating joined Mastercard as a Software Engineer as a part of their Launch Program in September 2023. I have greatly enjoyed this experience, and I could not have got to where I am now had it not been for the Computer Science degree I obtained from ATU.
