Hospitality Management
ATU Donegal
I have dreams and goals I want to achieve and the Hospitality Management course will help me achieve these goals.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to choosing your degree.
After Leaving Cert which was in 2020 so I never sat my exams I took two years out of college. I began working in hotels and became intrigued by the running of bars and restaurants. I eventually grew a passion for hospitality and decided to apply to ATU to further my skills and career path.
What was your overall experience of studying at ATU Donegal?
I have really enjoyed every moment. The campus in Killybegs is state-of-the-art with modern equipment and a fully functional bar and a restaurant for practical elements. The staff are friendly and helpful which made me feel at home in Killybegs.
Why did you choose to study your programme?
I have been working in a hotel environment since I was 16 and I grew more comfortable and began to flourish in my job which led to promotions. I have dreams and goals I want to achieve, and the BA Hospitality Management course will help me achieve these goals.
Are you part of any student clubs and societies, a previous award winner of any competitions, or a scholarship recipient?
I started up the Hospitality Society along with my class mates.
Did you have any unique experiences while being a student at ATU Donegal?
I thought that the trips away to see the high end of hotels such as Ashford Castle was really eye opening and the visits to local breweries and distilleries was so fascinating to see the work that goes into our drinks.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I am currently on placement in Ashford Castle which is a Forbes 5 star Hotel in Co.Mayo, it is such a privilege to be here working and learning along side staff that are like minded and have a passion for the hospitality industry.
