Having a love for woodworking from a young age, discovering a Level 8 course in furniture making was a dream come true.
Before beginning my studies in Furniture Design and Manufacture at ATU Connemara, I was apprehensive about university life, fearing I wouldn't find friends who shared my passion. However, within the first two weeks, I found a supportive group that helped alleviate my concerns. Having a love for woodworking from a young age, discovering a Level 8 course in furniture making was a dream come true.
The hands-on nature of the course, allowing me to engage daily in crafting and designing projects, is what I enjoy most. My goal is to establish my own business creating high-end furniture, but I understand the importance of gaining industry experience first. ATU Connemara has not only boosted my confidence but also emphasised the value of self-directed learning. Participating in the Cabinetmaking competition at Worldskills in the RDS this year, where I secured 2nd place nationally, has only strengthened my resolve to continue representing ATU Connemara in the future.
