ATU is delighted to be a partner institution in the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme.

Each year, hundreds of students and staff from our Erasmus + partner educational institutions join us in ATU to study and work abroad. Our International Offices provide advice and guidance to incoming students on everything from student registration to accommodation to finding a job in Ireland.

We also support our Irish students and staff to complete an exchange period at one of our partner universities or colleges.

Study Abroad

Many of our courses offer students the opportunity to study abroad or complete an international work placement. These will enhance your employability prospects in today’s globalised economy.

Depending on your course, you can apply to study abroad for a semester or a year. We have opportunities with numerous EU universities. These are supported by the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme. You can find out more about the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme here.

We also have some opportunities with partner colleges and universities outside the EU, such as the USA, Canada, Brazil and many more.

Most of our students study abroad through English. However, some students undertaking a foreign language module may have the option to study through this language.

Work Placement Abroad

Several courses in ATU include an international work placement. In some instances, grant aid is available to support students on these placements.

Testimonial

My Erasmus experience in ATU Galway City campus can be summed up as one of the best years I have lived so far.

You may be reluctant to go abroad, to change countries, to face a new language and a new culture. You might feel homesick at first. But I made many friends and became part of something very warm and inter-cultural at the Galway City campus.

The teachers care a lot about international students and take time after class if needed so you can understand the class.

The campus will make you feel at home. The library and IT centre are modern and welcoming and silence is respected. There are places to have a coffee break and enjoy your meals. And the International Office plans a lot of party and mingling events.

The best part is the extracurricular activities. I loved the Yoga Club, Gastrolife Club and Student Choir. I met so many nice people. Taking part in clubs and societies is an excellent way to relieve stress.
