Galway
Focused academic writing tuition for ATU Galway-Mayo students, at all levels, in all years, across all disciplines.
The purpose of the ATU Galway-Mayo Academic Writing Centre is to enable students to fulfil their potential in the academic writing tasks which are part of their course work.
The Centre offers focused academic writing tuition to all ATU Galway-Mayo students, at all levels, in all years, and across all disciplines.
The tuition available takes the form of pre-bookable, thirty-minute, one-to-one sessions, directed by the requirements of each student.
The 2023-2024 Academic Year
The Academic Writing Centre sessions are conducted online via Microsoft Teams. The tutors from the different campuses are indicated on the booking system by colour-coding (green for Galway City, pink for Mayo)—and those tutors have particular experience with the modules offered on those campuses—but students should feel free to book with any tutor from any campus.
Once a session is booked, the tutor will call the student directly via Microsoft Teams at the booked time.
(A ‘meeting’ notification is not issued.)
Students should observe good netiquette—i.e. be logged in to Microsoft Teams, be appropriately dressed, and be in an appropriate location for the session.

We are delighted to offer all ATU Students for whom English is not a first language a FREE Online English language Programme. Register now or opt in when you need support. In addition to the online resources and support, two live webinars are available each week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Subscribing to a course no longer means that you have to leave your home – or even your sofa – to learn English. Nor do you have to find time to get to an extra English course in the afternoon, or to balance it with your work, school, social and family life. Never miss a lesion again. Keep up with your course in bite-size chunks. Learn English to go.
Ask your teaching questions WHEN you need to ask them. Send your teacher examples of your work for real-life expert native speaker feedback and guidance. Get individual attention, direction and advice. Test your English and monitor your progress.
