Donegal – Letterkenny
Donegal is renowned for its stunning beaches, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, and the most beautiful accent in Ireland. It is one of the most affordable regions to live, work and study in. The cost of living is considerably lower than the national average and the region offers a good variety of affordable student accommodation. ATU Donegal’s reach is both local and international, attracting a diverse student body of almost 5,000 students from Ireland and 32 countries across the globe. Our engagement and partnerships with indigenous and international business leaders strengthen our student’s employment prospects.
The Letterkenny campus is at the heart of the university town. It includes over 18,000 square meters of educational and support accommodation with specialised teaching and research facilities. It also houses our library, dining areas, meeting rooms and state-of-the-art sporting facilities. With a diverse range of transport links, the Letterkenny campus is easily accessible for national and international students and visitors. It offers a wide range of courses in engineering and technology, science and health and business at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Car Parking
Car park management services are provided by ATU contract security staff and motorists are obliged to comply with security personnel directions at all times.
Motorists are requested to exercise courtesy to other motorists by parking in designated parking spaces only and not along roadsides or other non-designated areas.
For safety reasons, there are some instances where cars may be clamped.
Clamping may occur if a car is –
- Causing obstruction of emergency exits, fire-fighting equipment, access routes, properly parked cars, carriageways
- On yellow hatched areas or on double yellow lines
- In places set aside for the disabled where unwarranted, i.e., where a valid registered ‘blue badge’ is not displayed or where prior arrangements have not been made with ATU Donegal Estates Office in the case of temporary physical impairments
- On grassed or planted areas
- On, or partially on, footpaths or marked pedestrian walkways
- In any area cordoned off by traffic cones or other means
- Taking up more than one parking space
- Parked on campus by persons not on ATU Donegal business
A clamp release fee of €65 is payable to the external clamping company.
In some instances warning stickers may be affixed to car windows.
We understand that there may be times when all ATU car parks are full and in this instance you are encouraged to use off campus parking at the Church of the Irish Martyrs, or at the multi storey car park opposite McGinley Motors:
McGinley Motors
The McGinley Motors multi-storey car park is accessible from both Justice Walsh Rd. and the Pearse Rd.
The Justice Walsh Rd entrance is located close to the Courthouse and the Pearse Rd entrance is located adjacent to Lloyd’s pharmacy. The opening hours currently are 6.45am to 7.00pm. You should note that there is a charge to park at this car park.
Church of the Irish Martyrs
The Church of The Irish Martyrs is located on the Gortlee Road. The sixty three spaces which the Church of The Irish Martyrs has agreed to make available are as indicated on the diagram below. You are requested to park in the designated spaces only. Naturally there will be certain occasions when this car park may not be available due to events of which will take precedence over ATU Donegal requirements.
A fee of €100 will be payable to the external towing company in order to recover the car on the day it is towed away or the day immediately afterwards.
Recovery costs increase by €10 per day for collection on the 3rdor subsequent days after towing.
Contact details for towing service are available from Security personnel and from main reception.
Of course, many of you living locally may opt to take public transport, walk or cycle to campus and this is strongly encouraged.
