The Bachelor of (Honours) Science in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Science is designed to build on knowledge gained in a Level 7 B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Science and to broaden the scope and depth of this knowledge. It may be completed in one academic year (2 semesters) or on a part-time basis (ACCS).

Analytical ChemistryThe module aims to expand on a basic knowledge of instrumental analysis and provide a more in-depth understanding of the advances in chromatographic and thermal analysis techniques. It will also provide a basic understanding of photocatalytic reactions and sensor fabrication. Medicinal ChemistryThis module will build on the learner's knowledge of drug action, the basic concepts of drug design and the physiochemical properties of a molecule that are important in therapeutic action. It will demonstrate the important principles of drug delivery and the biological factors that affect these processes and provide a thorough understanding of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Medicinal Protein ChemistryThis module will enable learner to develop strategies for the isolation and purification of medicinal proteins for both research and industrial applications. Operation Management and Lean TechniquesThe Operation Management and Lean Techniques module will explore the areas of operation management, production planning and process control, focusing on the 'lean' concept and its applications. This module will examine issues related to performance management and how operations can be improved using lean tools and techniques. This is two semester, add-on, Honours Degree programme for students who have achieved a Level 7 B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Science. Students who have completed an equivalent programme at Level 7 with appropriate learning outcomes would also be considered for acceptance.
