Fashion Fundamentals will appeal to all those interested in fashion and style and who have a desire to learn the basics of the fashion industry.

The classes include Irish fashion, fashion history, technical design, sustainable fashion, illustration, retail buying, store planning & much more. With Donegal once being a leading hub of tweed manufacturing, this course aims to showcase the potential the students have within the county, the country & the international market.

Students on this programme have gone from being novice’s to near experts within weeks. The mix of students was varied. Like the industry itself, students of all ages, backgrounds & ability worked together on projects that showcased them individually and as a team.

1	Foundations in Fashion 1: Design & Merchandising This module covers an introduction to Fashion design covering Fashion History, Collection Design, Sketching & Illustrating, Irish Influences in Fashion and Merchandising. Torthaí Foghlama 1. Make observational and technical drawings that demonstrate hand eye co-ordination 2. Develop an understanding of Irelands influence on the design, retail and fabric industries. 3. Create a piece of original fashion apparel 4. Produce and display designs for a collection of outfits	05	Mandatory
2	Foundations in Fashion 2: The Sustainable Past In this module, students will study fashions of the past, interpret into fashion of the present and learn more technical skills to further develop them in this field. The student will add complexity to designing, with a tangible garment upcycled to represent fashion history. Torthaí Foghlama 1. Demonstrate an understanding of fashion during a particular period of history 2. Display hand-eye co-ordination through fashion sketching and hand sewing. 3. Develop an understanding of how to interpret past trends into present day garments. 4. Articulate the historical influence on a garment of their own creation 5. Demonstrate an understanding of Sustainable & Ethical Fashion	05	Mandatory
