This course explores the use of Revit software and the BIM process in the effective design and delivery of construction projects, concentrating firstly on acquiring the Revit skills to produce a 3D BIM model of a domestic and commercial building; then progressing to a project-based curriculum focussed on the succeeding dimensions of BIM such as 4D clash detection, 5D quantity take-off and 6D energy modelling, developing and advancing the learner’s skills in Revit Architecture and BIM workflow and collaboration.
Course modules link together to allow learners to gain competencies that cut across individual activities, with peer group projects, reflection exercises and teamwork to develop skills that can be employed in any context, provide the foundation for learners to rapidly update their digital construction skills, in particular the use of BIM software.

BIM with RevitThis is a module in Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Revit. Learners initially build knowledge in digital modelling including 3D building modelling, visualisation and BIM functionality such as scheduling and documenting a project that enables the learner to present 2D and 3D drawings proficiently. Learners then progress to applying their skills to the BIM environment utilising established BIM workflows and software platforms. Torthaí Foghlama 1. Modify system and project settings. |

BIM for Virtual Design and Construction (Online)This ONLINE module explores the use of Building Information Modelling and the BIM process in the effective design and delivery of construction projects. The first part of the module concentrates on the preparation of a 3D BIM of a commercial building. The second part of the module involves a project based curriculum focussed on the succeeding dimensions of BIM such as, 4D timeline simulation, 5D quantity take-off as well as clash detection. Torthaí Foghlama 1. Explain the BIM workflow and differentiate between the various BIM levels. |

Building Energy Performance (NZEB)This ONLINE module will develop the learners' knowledge of the construction process to address redevelopment. This module will also enable learners to assess how energy is used in the construction and use of buildings. Learners will develop strategies for developing sustainable low energy and NZEB buildings. Torthaí Foghlama 1. Evaluate appropriate technologies & materials suitable for new dwellings the upgrading of existing buildings . |

Riachtanais Iontrála
A Level 6 (NFQ) or equivalent by recognition of prior learning (RPL) would be the expected norm in terms of entry requirements for mature learners.
A knowledge of construction technology, basic building services and a working knowledge of basic 2D CAD is desirable. Familiarity with 2D or 3D drawing packages such as AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Trimble SketchUp, SolidWorks or Hevacomp would be an advantage to learner.
